The running of the next all-Ukrainian population census is determined by the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine from 9 April 2008 № 581-р “On the all-Ukrainian population census conduction in 2013”.
    The census is carried by visiting and questioning of the population on census date.

   A population census is defined as a measure which permits in regular time intervals to carry out an official account of the number of the population which lives on a country’s territory as a whole and on all levels of administrative-territorial structure. Data of a census are necessary for forecasting and management of socio-economic development of a country, realization of demographic policy, budget planning and other purposes.

   In Ukraine from 1 till 14 of December 2010 in Dergachivsky district of Kharkiv oblast took part a trial population census. The trial population census is one of the main stages to prepare the next all-Ukrainian population census.

   The aim of the conduct of a trial population census was working out the census program, census instrumentation, methodological and organizational issues, technology of information processing of obtained data.
